Reaching Out - SK Stutong

Alumni Visits SK. Sungai Stutong Stampin

On 12th November 2008, Dr. Lim Choon Yang, the President, and Ms. Jenny Ting, the Secretary, attended a meeting with members of the Yayasan LaSallian Kuching (YLK), the principal and teachers, and some parents of SK. Sungai Stutong to prepare the way to set up the tuition centre at Stutong Baru. A committee was set up on that day.

The YLK tuition centre at Stutong Baru for the poor students of the school will be running by early 2009, and Mr. Loong Sun Seng, a retired lecturer from Batu Lintang Teacher’s Training Institute (IPBL), has volunteered to be the supervisor of the tuition centre.

I am proud to announce that our Alumni Association has made some financial contributions towards the setting up of the tuition centre. We are also looking at other ways to help the centre, which is the sixth tuition centre of the YLK.

On the same day, some secondary school students from the LaSalle Club of St. Joseph’s School were also at the school to help the primary school students in some activities.
